CENTRE

In the beginning there was a big BANG !  and the earth cooled.....

Giant 'Monsters' roamed the land,

Woops . . . .  hang on.. Maybe we're going back a bit too far, we're not that old! . . . .

Well not yet anyway !!

Now let me see . . . . I seem to remember someone invented the wheel, then found fire, lost the fire, found it again again . . . . ( it was down the side of the couch) . . .  singed his eyebrows and then put it away again, safely in a drawer this time . . . . (where it should have been kepted anyway !!).

Hmmmm, now let me see . . . .

  • The 'pointy'pyramids sprung up all over the place in Egypt, . . .

  • Someone from a basket parted the red sea.

  • Then this bearded guy walked over some water with a bag of records, (he had a few followers’, and this was before Twitter, Face book and Instagram !)  but he didn’t have an amp or speakers, , so a few of his mates came over and ended up, having a bit of a booze up and a last supper to finish,

  • The Romans tried to take over the world . . . ·        .  and why did the Romans build straight roads ?
So their soldiers didn't go around the bend !  Obviously they never got as far as East Kilbride ??

  • Then the dark ages, but it was sooo dark I can't remember anything interesting, you see there were so many Knights.

  • There was this great big fire in London I seem to recall,. . . .  Columbus sailed away from Hoganfield Loch and ended up discovering America, ( his mum was fair chuffed with that !)

  • Yada, yada, yada; man on the moon, Elvis was defrosted and appeared live again at a sell-out gig in Las Vegas. . . . Commander Zorg of the Menjhi legion conquered the people of the sixth planet, Professor Jackson discovered the 5th Dimension  . . . . . . wooops   too far . . . .

Right, that’s better !!  Let’s stay with the 20th Century !

Originally, we were in a shop in Argyle Street Glasgow, we opened in 1962 selling Groovy Hi Fi and Valve!!! PA equipment.

Note the use of the word “Groovy”

* BBC television broadcasts the first episode of Z-Cars, on 02/01/1962, it was noted as a realistic portrayal of the police.

"Seventies Disco was born on Valentine's Day 1970, when David Manusco opened The Loft in New York City. When the Disco movement peaked, the demographic was predominantly white, heterosexual, urban and suburban middle class". . . .  boy how that’s changed . . .  so, we started with Disco Equipment in 1972 . . .  and again . . how THAT’S changed  !!

We battled in the basement of the shop with the Hi Fi department for the crown of which one was the loudest !   (and fyi we were )  Then a move from Argyle street to larger premises in the Anderston Centre in 1979 where we have a large showroom to fully demonstrate the sound (this time as loud as you like ) and the lighting (with shop lights off and smoke machine on to get the full effect). Giving the example of how the gear would be used out on the road  -

Right, now, in the 21st Century!      Well technology has moved on and we are now faced with Media players, usb sticks, iPod interfaces, laptop control heads, LED lighting [which is getting more exciting and brighter with every new generation] and smaller but more powerful speakers, like the dB Technologies, Alto, FBT, QSC, etc . . .  ranges!

For the latest in controllers, DJ Booths, Lasers, Moving Heads, Speakers, and everything in between for the professional DJ.  Fuses to gaffa tape, Replacement leads or replacement lamp (you still using things with bulbs  in it ??? ) everything for the hard working Jock,  the shop has it all - - - -  and if doesn't have it in stock  - - - - well, we can get it !!

Apart from having similar prices that you will find on the interwebnet, we also repair and service everything we sell and many repairs can done on the spot,  where possible.
(But phone first so we are ready for you 0141 248 4158)

So PLEASE come in and see us soon !!
